A fantastic roguelike deckbuilder with a charming premise and adorable art. Despite its appearance, it has some challenge to it. There are definitely moments where you will be cursing the names of the children you battle against, especially on the hardest difficulties (and especially that cat c***). For a game about putting animal stickers on cards, it has surprisingly deep mechanics and wide build variety. Most options are viable to build around, at least on lower difficulties, though some strategies are obviously better than others—standard deckbuilder flaws. I mostly disagree with reviews saying it's poorly balanced. You are unlikely to run into any balancing issues playing on Relaxed or Normal, and the difficulty of the final boss fight is overblown, even on the hardest difficulty. It intentionally has counters for a lot of the 'cheesy' mechanics that can get you there (see: dragons). A lot of the difficulty comes from knowledge checks—the characters' builds are the same every run, which encourages thoughtfulness about how you'll tackle their particular challenges once you've learned what they are. However, there are some fights in Week 2 and Week 3 which by default scale much faster than you (Neung) and pretty much have to be avoided unless your deck directly counters them. I'm sure these will be smoothed out. I have some nitpicks, mostly around the length of the runs, which can be up to 2 hours. This would be fine except for what it is that's slowing down the gameplay. Though you can speed up most animations, there are still delays while using your cards and watching the enemies' turns that seriously bog down the experience. If I could ask for one thing, it's the ability to turn off all of these extra animations. For achievement hunters, almost all achievements can be completed on 'Relaxed' difficulty (except the Normal and Hard achievements). Grinding them out is a matter of patience, not RNG; the last one I completed was the 'Win 20 Games' one, and by the time I finished all the others, I needed 10 more wins. At the 50 hour mark, the game did not overstay its welcome, despite facing the same encounters again and again. Usually the builds were varied enough that I still had to think about what to play. For an Early Access game, this is spectacularly polished, and it's an absolute steal at the price it is.

You know how in Yu-Gi-Oh where you play a card, spend 4 minutes explaining it's effects and nuances and it ultimately turns into a nuclear bomb that decimates the opponent? This game brings that feeling, though the balancing COULD use a bit of tweaking. It is in Early Access after all, so I expect some workarounds. 10/10 I can nuke people with my x4 Fever 18 Candy Cost card that generates enough stars that makes the Zodiac three times while costing NOTHING thanks to my Chef Hats/Neckties I wish we gain the ability to save down cards we made and name them though. I feel like it'll be awesome for kids to just name their cards

I am honestly surprised how good this game is and how little attention it has. It has an adorable theme, and you can certainly have a relaxing, casual time on easier difficulties. However, if you are looking for legitimately deep and challenging game mechanics, it offers those as well. Building cards by mixing around stickers works great. You can do BUSTED things, but it feels good, and the AI will certainly hold their own even on normal difficulty. I would compare it closest to Inscryption, but if you have played RPGs that allow or even encourage powerful, broken synergies (for example, Rogue Trader), this will feel right at home. I might also compare it to playing a simpler-to-access Magic: the Gathering, where you are making game-breaking cards. I strongly recommend picking this up if you think you might have an interest. I have put in around 10 hours across 6 runs so far, and the game is not slowing down in introducing new stickers/mechanics. I am excited to see how it grows, but I would feel I have had my money's worth if it never got another update. Idea for the dev: A gallery or some equivalent to save some of your favorite / most broken cards would be a nice edition. There have been a few runs where you build up some absurdly fun, powerful card, and it would be neat to have the option to save them to view later. I would love to look back through all the absurd creations over time.

The best roguelike deckbuilder since Balatro. It really stands out from the competition through the insane freedom it gives the player in card/deckbuilding. Unlike other deckbuilders where the options to rearrange your deck mid run are very limited, this game gives you total freedom to do so. You really feel smart when thinking of a strategy, and rearanging your whole deck to support that.
