After replaying the game post "Fighting Chance" and completing it again to 200% getting the new 10 achievements, I decided to finally wright a review for it (since I don't usually do it) because this game is truly deserves it! Popgoes Acrade is hands down one of, if not THE best Fnaf game so far, and definitely is the best "fan" game there is. (although it's obviously more then just a "fan game", but an official project from the Fanverse) Not only is it a fantastic teaser for Evergreen, one of my most anticipated games, but and outstanding retro JRPG on it's own. It truly shows and redefines what a "teaser game" could and should be, while confidently standing on its own 2 feet as a complete package that can be enjoyed on It's own. In many ways this feels even more "official" then most of the official Fnaf content, with just an incredible level of details and quality in every aspect of the game, the music, the visuals, the atmosphere, while also having a truly immaculate and ginormous amount of content in such a, from the first glance, small little game. Achievements, secrets, bosses, lore, extra content etc.. etc.. This feels more high budget then most projects, while again been just a little teaser game, setting the bar for Evergreen really high, a bar that I'm sure Kane and his team will be able to exceed and overcome, setting a new standard for the franchise! Visuals. It is an understatement to say that I haven't had such a perfectly encapsulated retro feel within a modern game in a long time. From the arcade machine and surrounding area that gives a perfect vibe of sitting on an arcade machine in a restaurant, to the spectacular pixel art with a perfect minimalistic style in the overwrold while showing off amazing and detailed designs of the characters during the battles. Every area while having a similar structure and an overall look (a forest is a forest) have a distinct feel. It was a brilliant choice to separate it and give it a unique look with seasonal themes, while leaving the most "different" looking area a Castle for the last. Pixel art is on the highest level throughout both campaigns and truly makes you immersed, making you believe in this actual "real" game that could exist within the Popgoes Universe, which is a detail I liked the most in the whole idea behind this game. But obviously the highlight of the visual presentation is those secret rare "lore heavy" scenes which are just out of this world. The "Black Rabbit scene" from the Death Forest campaign in particular is literally my favorite jumpscare from any game period Music. For many, including me, is the highlight of this game, which is hard to choose since almost every aspect of this game is a highlight within itself. From beautiful, sometimes relaxing, sometimes up beat or even spooky tracks of the overworld, to just an amazing array of fighting tracks during the Boss Fights, this game exceeds in terms of music in It's every aspect and I'm really glad there is a Soundtrack that I have and can listen to at any time on Steam. Final Boss, The Machinist and The Puppet themes are obvious favorites, although in terms of atmosphere, I have to give hats off to the Secret Boss theme, which is the most atmospheric and oppressive out of all of them Gameplay. After the Fighting Chance the game is truly in a perfect place, mechanically, balance and fun wise. Having the gift system not only gave the fights a lot more complexity and variety throughout the entire game, but also alleviated the weakest part of the game, which was always the beginning. Having the randomness of the gifts spicing up the gameplay while you still lack the access to the later abilities was a perfect solution. The best part of this aspect of the game is as you may have guessed, the Bosses, and to be more specific the achievements behind the "Ultra" challenges. That is where the game shines the most, having every "Ultra" Boss be balanced just the right way, giving just barely enough, be it time, health or damage to just about beat them The Puppet Ultra in particular was an outstanding encounter where you truly had to make every single move count, not making any mistake Story/Lore. Simply terrific. As in any Fnaf related project, lore implications, secret endings and everything of that sort is expected, but the quality of execution, now that truly deserves the highest praise. Not only did every lore revelation and detail was important and interesting, but the way how it was presented was amazing. The game would be a great teaser with just those "secret lore" moments, but having an entire high quality game come with it, is what makes it hit even harder and appreciate the amount of work that went to it. But not only those moments, even the themes that are explored throughout the game, with them been noticeable but subtle enough to not be on the nose, are brilliant Like the villains of the both campaigns been an analogy for Simon and Fritz, having one be an "immoral thought death" and other been obsessed with the technology and machines, just amazing All in all, Popgoes Arcade is a perfect start for the franchise, a great JRPG on It's on and a phenomenal teaser for what's to come. I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in Popgoes or Fnaf and I couldn't have wished for a better comeback of the series. I hope that Kane and his team are proud of what they have made, as they should be and I wholeheartedly looking forward to Evergreen, as the future for Popgoes looks ever so green 10/10

I committed to a 200% run of the game after the launch of Fighting Chance, I feel inclined to write up my review for the game as, while I still greatly enjoyed the experience after a replay, I still have just a few small gripes with it even after the Fighting Chance update. The Fighting Chance update introduced a lot of interesting battle gimmicks yet during the fights it didn't particularly feel like the gimmicks contributed to much to the experience, especially the positive ones which I felt barely changed the fight what-so-ever. I really liked gimmicks like 'Reflex', 'Potential' and 'Slingshot' really did feel like game changers or small bit-sized challenges in the fight, Potential being a nice risk vs. reward requiring you to drain valuable HP, Reflex testing your reaction time or Slingshot just completely changing an entire ability to be something entirely new! Meanwhile, so many of the other Battle Gifts just feel like needlessly time wasting, boring or just felt like it didn't remotely do anything to change the fight, I could count on one hand how many times the Battle Gift 'Persistence' actually came into use, or other Gifts like 'Excavation', while changing an entire ability being a gimmick I had praised a bit ago, didn't feel like it did anything and I would typically just ignore trying to dig for the fight as the scrap I would recieve from the enemies would be a much more guaranteed reward than whatever Excavation could have given me. Same goes for 'Clumsiness' which I'm just remembering, because if Popgoes is already pretty stacked on health he can just take a charged attack with a block pretty well instead of needing to jump. I feel as though the Battle Gifts, especially the negative ones, should not be something the player just glosses over whenever they're unboxed, as I thought would be indicated via the game closing off the ability to run away, truly committing to the 'challenge', except thats what some of the abilities just ended up feeling like. That being said, I do adore the new boss added into the Fighting Chance update, their final attack is incredibly clever, my compliments to the chef because they really cooked with this boss fight (even if it is a bit RNG dependent) On a few unrelated notes, I think grinding is still a bit tedious even after the economy rebalancing but I felt as though it wasn't nearly as bad as before the update , I would also like to compliment being able to rematch the final boss from the Dead Forest but now that its a feature I kind of wished that every boss would get a rematch option, I would absolutely love to have a rematch option for the Secret Boss in the Machinist expansion or a rematch option for the other Bosses in the Dead Forest also I would love full Steam Deck support! Over-all, I really did love the game, I wouldn't have done a 200% and have got all the achievements otherwise, and I look forward to Evergreen and future Popgoes projects! (I wouldn't mind another Arcade game) Post-Wrapped Up patch: I really do appreciate the new Steam Deck pop-up that was added into this update, the broken cutscenes were an incredibly persistent problem in my 200% playthrough and I really appreciate the information the intro pop-up has to inform players on how to fix the problem I also like the new bonus that the Gilded Hat provides, a rather fitting reward for 200% completion and adds a more enticing offer for anyone who would want to replay after a 200% completion save, on the topic of completion rewards, the new statue is an aesthetically pleasing, albeit it useless reward, I appreciate that its a badge saying "you did it" considering achievement completion didn't add anything before the update, sometimes people just appreciate when the game acknowledges when you did something! I'd just like to say that on release, Popgoes Arcade was one of my games of 2022 and I appreciate that Fighting Chance gave me a real good reason to come back to it for a full replay, thank you Kane and the Popgoes Arcade team!

The first FNaF fangame on Steam, huh. Popgoes Arcade has surpassed my expectations, yeah, it's kinda short, but it has so much love put into it Progression is amazing, you get new stuff each 5 minutes. You beat the boss? Here, new mechanic. You killed x enemies in this area? Here, have an item to make your exploration more enjoyable etc etc. It encourages the player to explore the gameworld. The soundtrack is also really good. Definitely the best OST coming from a FNaF Fangame overall. FIGHTING CHANCE UPDATE: The gifts definitely make the game less repetetive. During my second playthrough i felt like I was playing a different game. The new boss is also really cool, despite having one flaw that's extremely annoying - its huge pain doing a certain achievement, but it's still relatively bearable. The reward for beating the boss is also really cool. 9/10 . Taking one point for stealing our precious 100% completion badge from before the update lol. Buy the game, it's worth your money (+ You can support Kane Carter who can make more games in the future!)

Peak. Even though I haven't completed this new update's additions, it is very fun so far and all pre-Fighting Chance content was amazing.

Firstly, This game has some of the most incredible visual and audio designs I have ever seen in an RPG.The pixelated style of a retro game and the amazing soundtrack make for a great experience. Secondly, The turn based action in this game is just phenomenal. It is simple yet effective, transitioning seamlessly between encounters, without it feeling like a chore for the player. And lastly, Even if you are not particularly interested in the lore of the other FNaF games,it still is a great experience, with a story of its own.
