Dec. 2025
Overall Pretty interesting game that I picked up for $9.99. Doesn't strive to do anything new other than build upon the point n click genre. The game ends on a fine note, albeit a tad rushed, and I didn't mind the ending unlike some of the negative reviews. Pros - Gorgeous animation. - Solid voice acting. - Map WITH fast travel. (Can't get one achievement if you use the fast travel though) - Interesting story as well as interesting characters. Nicely done on the setting too! - The puzzles are pretty logical especially for this type of game where they can get nonsensical quick (looking at your Deponia) - Not too long and not too short. Cons - Sometimes the game won't let you continue until you've interreacted with the correct thing prior. EX: you can't use an item on a door that you already possess until you've activated a prior action/dialogue sequence even though you've already tried using the item on the door.

Highly recommended. Vastly exceeded expectations, to the point at which I felt it was (in my opinion) in the ballpark of a LucasArts point-and-click adventure. It's an ambitious game with good voice acting, story, and humor and excellent attention to detail.

Slender Threads is a point and click adventure game with a really strange unique story. The game takes place in a small weird town where you walk up and down approximately 4-5 streets, enter stores, talk to interesting characters, and solve puzzles. The whole game takes place at night and has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. The main game took 5 hours to complete and there is a short epilogue after the game is done that took around 20 minutes to finish. + The hand drawn art style is fantastic. Lots of beautiful locations to explore and fast travel was a helpful feature. + The voice acting is terrific, very professional. Each character you meet has a very unique voice. A+ Top Tier. + There is Zero pixel hunting in this game, which is awesome. Some people say the puzzles are easy in this game, but I think the puzzles are just right in difficulty. I only got stuck once where I would have never thought to use an item in a certain place. 99% of the puzzles are achievable on your own without a guide. + Lots of humour and well written dialog. + Excellent sound effects, design and clarity. +/- The story starts off amazing with wonder and mystery, but then completely takes a nose dive near the end of the game. +/- The music in the game is an original score. It is serviceable but nothing really stood out as fantastic or memorable. - The ending and epilogue are very divisive in reviews. I am in the camp where I thought both were absolutely horrible. I won't get into it for spoilers sake but it basically ruined the game for me and brought down my score immensely. I get what the developers were trying to convey but to me the whole thing just fell flat like a dirty pancake and I wanted it to end. - The game is priced high for the length and what you get. The game is quality in design, its just a real shame where the developers took the ending of the story. Cautiously recommended. Overall: 6/10

I really liked this one. Don’t let the cartoonish graphics fool you. There are some very dark things happening in Villa Ventana and your character is in the center of them. Your character is new in town and people are dying all over the place. It’s a standard point and click with one autosave and about a dozen manual save slots. The puzzles are very logical and it is usually easy to see what you need to do next. The graphics are bright and nicely done and the voice talent was excellent. My playtime was 8 hours, but that was because I was going for the no hints and no map fast travel achievements. The game world is fairly large. If you don’t use the map, prepare for a lot (and I mean a lot) of walking! Not sure how much, but I feel I would have shaved easily an hour, maybe 2 off my playtime if I would have jumped to locations. Definitely recommend this one for point and click adventure fans!

This was a lot of fun. Point and Click Adventures live and die by their writing, and while many of the supporting characters are simple archetypes, I laughed out loud repeatedly. I found some of the puzzle solutions slightly obscure, but I'm not great at these games, and I think a more experienced player could manage them. I don't regret buying this game, and I enjoyed almost all of it, but.... I wanted to write about why I think many players, myself included, reacted so negatively to the ending. It's not as simple as an aversion to big rug-pulling twists. It's that the twist simplifies, rather than complicates, the interesting dramatic dilemma at the center of the writing. "Can we change our fate?" is a meaty thematic question. We all face some version of it in our lives. For the answer to be "Nope! Not even a little bit! You're literally a puppet!" feels cruel to the protagonist, who we've come to like, and disrespectful to us, the audience, for hoping for a more interesting answer. The problem isn't that it's an emotional downer - it's that we cut away from the character right at the moment of realization. We never see Harvey reckon with this shattering truth, just the evil puppet version of him carrying out crimes. The ending and twist might feel satisfying if we understood how Harvey reacts - does he just keep living his life? Can he not go on any longer? But we never get that. I think the devs were going for an ending that feels like The Sixth Sense , and accidentally wrote something that feels more like the ending of The Sopranos .
