The game has an interesting premise, good art, and good music. Its a puzzle game and lack many other gameplay elements other than world traversal and clicking on certain objects or items, but I feel that it is almost necessary to put the player in a state of mind that matches the character they play. It is a very short game but good enough that I still think about it from time to time even years after.

I wanted to wait specifically until New Year's Eve to play Year Walk and welcome in the new year as it seemed the most thematic time to delve into this game steeped in Norse myths and traditions. Overall, the game felt similar to a Rusty Lake game thematically and with some of the puzzles. Here's to 2025! 4/10

I think if you're interested in folklore, puzzles, and a good short story, this game is great. I loved the encyclopedia with info on the supernatural beings, and enjoyed the journal entries you can unlock after the first playthrough, revealing much more of the story. However, the game isn't very replayable. There's two endings and several very easy achievements; you can get all that done in like 3-4 playthroughs and it takes 20 minutes tops to complete a playthrough. After that, there's nothing else you can get out of the game. My other complaint is the puzzles combined with how awkward the travelling/map is takes away from the suspense. The map is a bit weird to navigate and you need to take notes of all the runes in order to progress in a certain part. The spookiness and anticipation completely fizzled out for me as I wandered around feeling bored and confused trying to make sure I got every rune. Overall, I would recommend it if you're into visual novels and folklore. I don't recommend it if you expect a game with a lot of engagement and hours of gameplay.
