As the fifth game in the series: 6.0/10 New Game, Old Tracks (and a Dump Truck Party) ( series order: Barro→2020→F→Racing→22→F22→GT→T23→2024→F25 ) Barro 22 is an interesting turning point because it doesn’t simply chase “more new stuff.” Instead, it starts looking backward. This entry brings back some tracks from the earlier Barro games while continuing to build on the technology and content introduced in later entries. The result is a slightly strange feeling: “Hey, I recognize this track… but the car feels a little different now?” It’s an experience that indie game series can easily stumble into, yet one that doesn’t get discussed nearly enough: your own past becomes material for your next creation . Big franchises usually go out of their way to tell you, “Look! Everything is brand-new!” The Barro series takes a more relaxed approach, “Yep! You’ve driven this road before!” Anyway, back to racing. Looking at the series from this point, you start to realize that Barro has never really abandoned its core identity. It’s simply kept adding things around that original foundation. That makes Barro 22 feel less like a radical new direction and more like the developer taking stock of what he’s built so far: What have I made? Which parts are worth keeping? And where do I go from here? You know, sometimes, moving forward means knowing what to bring with you. ( Time to see how the sixth game, Barro F22, holds up. )
