Barro 22 is a simple racing game that I would probably never play on the PC. I played it on the Steam Deck and it gave me 30 minutes of fun. The different tracks, trucks and weather types kept it interesting to keep playing. It's also nice to collect all the achievements and the cards.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) A Simple, Relaxing Racer That Hits the Spot Barro 22 is the latest entry in the "Barro" series, staying true to its roots as a casual, arcade-style racing game. If you are looking for a high-budget simulation like Forza or Gran Turismo, this isn't it. However, if you want a low-cost, fun, and strangely therapeutic racing experience, this game is a hidden gem. The Gameplay The mechanics are straightforward and easy to pick up. You control a small, toy-like car across various tracks. The physics feel light and bouncy, which adds to the "toy car" charm. While the handling can be a bit quirky at times, it’s rarely frustrating once you get the hang of it. Graphics and Atmosphere For an indie title, the visuals are clean and colorful. The tracks are well-designed with a good variety of environments. It’s the kind of game you put on after a long day to just "zone out" and drive. Pros: Affordable: Usually priced very low, making it a great "bang for your buck". Easy Achievements: Perfect for achievement hunters; you can "perfect" the game relatively quickly. Low System Requirements: It runs smoothly on almost any PC. Cons: Repetitive: After a few hours, the gameplay loop might feel a bit samey. Limited Modes: It lacks a deep career mode or complex multiplayer features. Final Verdict: Barro 22 is an honest game. It doesn’t pretend to be more than it is. It’s a cheap, cheerful, and enjoyable racer that is perfect for younger players or anyone who just wants a casual gaming session without the stress.

I picked this up looking for a simple racer, and Barro 22 definitely delivers. If you’ve played the previous games in the series, you know what to expect, but this one feels like a nice step forward. It doesn’t try to be a triple-A simulator; instead, it focuses on being a fun, accessible arcade racer that anyone can jump into.

Barro 22, developed and published by SC Jogos, is a lighthearted racing game that channels the nostalgia and simplicity of toy car racing into a digital format. The game invites players to dive into a colorful, playful world filled with miniature cars zipping around imaginative tracks. It’s clearly designed with accessibility and fun in mind, appealing both to younger players and to those who enjoy casual racing experiences without the complexity or intensity of traditional racing sims. One of the standout features of Barro 22 is its variety of vehicles and tracks. Players have access to 25 different tracks, each bringing its own unique layout and challenges. The environments are bright and cheerful, with a deliberate toy-like aesthetic that captures the feel of childhood play rather than realistic racing. This artistic direction gives the game a warm and inviting vibe, making it feel less like a competitive race and more like a fun, relaxed experience. Alongside the tracks, seven new vehicles offer different handling and performance characteristics, encouraging players to experiment and find the car that suits their style best. Gameplay itself is straightforward and easy to pick up, with intuitive controls that allow players to jump right into the action. Barro 22 favors an arcade-style racing approach, prioritizing fun and accessibility over realism. While this simplicity is part of the game’s charm, it also means that the driving mechanics don’t provide the depth or challenge that more hardcore racing fans might crave. The AI opponents tend to be predictable, which can lessen the excitement for players seeking intense competition. However, for those looking to unwind with a relaxed racing experience, the game hits the right notes. Multiplayer is a key component of Barro 22’s appeal. The local split-screen mode allows up to four players to race against each other, making it a great choice for family gatherings or casual hangouts with friends. The multiplayer experience adds a layer of social fun, encouraging friendly competition and shared laughs. Unfortunately, the game does not include online multiplayer, which limits its scope for competitive racing communities but doesn’t detract from its value as a local multiplayer title. Visually, Barro 22 embraces a charming and uncomplicated style. The colorful tracks and vehicles are designed to be visually pleasing without overloading the senses. Though it lacks detailed textures or high-fidelity graphics seen in bigger budget titles, the simplicity works well within the game’s overall tone. The soundtrack is upbeat and catchy, complementing the lively race environments without becoming intrusive or repetitive. From a value perspective, Barro 22 offers a solid package for its price. It’s affordable and often available at discounts, making it accessible to a wide audience. The game’s emphasis on fun over complexity means it’s ideal for casual players, families, or anyone wanting a stress-free racing game experience. Though it may not provide the depth or longevity of more sophisticated racing titles, its nostalgic charm and approachable gameplay make it a delightful addition to the genre. In summary, Barro 22 is a refreshing take on kart racing that focuses on accessibility, playful design, and local multiplayer enjoyment. It doesn’t aim to redefine racing games or deliver a highly competitive experience, but it succeeds admirably as a cheerful, family-friendly title that captures the simple joy of toy car racing. For players seeking a casual racing game with colorful visuals and easy-to-learn mechanics, Barro 22 stands out as a solid choice that delivers enjoyment without pretense. Rating: 8/10
