As the sixth game in the series: 6.5/10 If We’re Going Fast, Let’s Go ALL the Way ( series order: Barro → 2020 → F → Racing → 22 → F22 → GT → T23 → 2024 → F25 ) Starting with this installment, it finally looks like a proper racing game, with better graphics and, for the first time, support for 4K resolution. If regular Barro can still be called an arcade racer, F22 increasingly feels like an experiment built around one question: Can speed itself become the gameplay? SC Jogos’ answer is clearly yes. And apparently, it doesn’t take much speed to send you straight to the shadow realm. And, at long last, it introduces a feature that feels perfectly at home in a racing game: BOOST . Yep. You can finally press a button and go faster. Groundbreaking stuff, I know. The fun of F22 isn’t simply that the cars go fast. I think the real change is how you approach the track. In earlier games, you might look at a corner and ask, “Can I make it through?” Now, you’re asking, “Can I make it through at THIS speed?” Those two questions sound pretty similar, but in practice, they’re completely different. As the speed goes up, every little mistake gets magnified. Braking a little too early, turning a little too late, or simply giving it a bit too much throttle on the way out of a corner can send you and your car into a spectacular disaster. And just like that, your racing career is over. At least until you hit restart. That’s why I think the Barro series’ evolution isn’t really about adding increasingly complicated systems. Instead, it’s about tweaking some of the most fundamental elements of the experience: speed, vehicles, tracks, and the relationships between them. And that’s probably why the F series has gradually developed a personality of its own. ( All right, let’s keep things moving with the seventh game: Barro GT. )
