Probably one of the worst games you could play during an acid trip If I wanted to be reductive, I could just say that Critters for sale is a point and click visual novel with some puzzles, but if you play this game, you will understand how little that description actually manages to accomplish. What we have here is one of those games that by its own nature could never be simply summarized only by its genre or gameplay. This is a game about the absurd, religion, conspiracy and the senses. Playing Critters is like that deep late-night conversation with that stoner friend that always manage to say the wildest things and still capture your full attention, and by the end you are not the same person as before. The art, the music, the visual language and the pacing all come together in a weird package that leaves you with more questions than answers while giving you a surprisingly interconnected plot and themes while not losing some weird sense of humor. If you have epilepsy or some other kind of condition that is related to flashing images and bright black and white art, I recommend skipping this one.
A game where I can confidently say, without even joking, I met Michael Jackson and watched him cut my head open with black magic AND got my neck snapped my MC Ride but then converted my soul into his and became him to then become one of the Devil's first soldiers. This would make such a kickass manga
I may or may not have been born too early to save our planet from an alien invasion by enamoring the aliens with Indian street food, but I may still get to transcend my timeline and experience an intimate friendship with Michael Jackson, and that thought brings me comfort. In fact, I may have already experienced it in the future. The game is an incomprehensible mix of Western pop culture and Oriental mystical traditions. It's a total slog to play through for all endings, and some of the puzzles are absurd, but it's arguably one of the most memorable and artistically distinct VNs.

A game about waking up at 3AM to a text from Michael Jackson telling you to meet him at a club, exploring the Jordan desert in 923 alongside Stefan Burnett from Death Grips and a Martian that stops the destruction of earth because he liked indian food too much. In all seriousness I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ I played but the graphics/art direction and the music were absolutely incredible and just pure creativity.
so utterly bizarre that it's beyond comparison. like playing through david lynch's half-forgotten fever dreams. i was so transfixed on what i was playing that i didn't notice what time it was until the morning sun reflected off my screen. mc ride canonically lived in the year 992 and started the band death grips to serve the satanic order. amazing soundtrack. 10/10, no notes.
