This is a great game, but probably best to get it on sale. I mean that's always true but... extra true here, $10 is on the high end for a game this light on content. To put it in perspective I'm at 90% achievements 18 hours in and around half of that has just been crossing off all the "win with this character on max difficulty" achievements without seeing anything new. But the content that is there is really good. Obviously the gimmick of marrying pacman with a survivorslike is cool, but thankfully they didn't stop there and the weapons and passives are generally quite interesting and well done. There are a few obvious staples (homing shots, fire trail, percentile damage buff, size buff, etc) but also some more distinctive ideas like: - A disco ball that periodically spawns in the center of the screen, giving a massive damage buff for any attack that passes through it (and thus having unique synergy concerns with different patterns). - A shadow clone that mirrors your movement on the opposite side of the maze and copies your attacks and reduced damage. - A turret that fires continuously for high damage but has to be manually reloaded by pathing through it. - Flowers that stick around forever, allowing you to grow a dense garden of absurd DPS. - A pillow that roots your character and attracts all pickups, turning the game into a tower defense. Among many others. Honestly I have no real complaints about the item variety here, it's comparable to 1.0 Vampire Survivors and arguably has more interesting buildcrafting. There are a few minor quibbles, like the only way to get rerolls is through a specific passive but taking it is almost always worse than just using that slot on something that makes you directly more powerful and in general a lot of damage-based weapons seem underpowered relative to enemy scaling, but it's enough to have back to back runs feel distinct once you get a few unlocks. The big issue though is the lack of stage and enemy variety. Four mazes is crazy, they look great but like... c'mon, you can hand anyone a sheet of paper and have them scribble out a dozen new maps for you. Just recycle assets if that's the limitation, four levels in a maze game in 2025 is offensively light. The fourth has randomized paths at least, but that's the only environmental gimmick in all of them and doesn't make it thaaaat much more replayable. And slightly more understandable but no less of an issue is that there are only two enemies. Two! There are sleepy cats that spawn blocking random paths and wake up to chase you when passed and then flying ghost cats that spawn in one of the corners and slowly float towards you while ignoring walls. The two work in tandem to make routing fairly tense and engaging, but those are also the only obstacles forever. No projectile enemies, nothing patrolling a set path you have to plan around, no stat variations (like higher damage but lower health), it would take more work to add these things than more mazes but it's still kinda crazy that the game shipped without any other enemy variety at all when there are so many obvious ideas for this format. Well, that's not entirely true because there is a boss, who is just a faster ghost with multiple health bars. Whenever you deplete a bar it gets pushes away from you, other than that it is ON YOUR ASS from the moment it spawns so you normally have to clear the basic enemies then abuse screenwrapping to keep your distance while getting in chip damage. Max difficulty makes this fight slightly more interesting by spawning two of them so it's tougher to cheese but only slightly. Anyway that might seem like a lot of negatives but it's important to put the recommendation in perspective. The game is a lot of fun, I've actually been a bit addicted the past couple weeks with this as my go to for when there are just 15 minutes to kill. But the fun dries up fast so value it appropriately, most people will probably be disappointed at full price.

I'm a bit on the fence for this game. The mechanics are a bit thin as there are 2 enemy types and most levels involve you running around in a circle to herd and keep distance from the ghost enemies while the ones trailing you mostly keep you from going backward. Selecting some healing items and leveling them up is the only rule you need to stay alive, otherwise basically any weapon will help keep the enemies down to ensure your movement options remain open, though the ghosts are usually more difficult to deal with. There are only a few levels, too many characters for some reason that dont differ significantly, and I am still unlocking weapons/support gear which have interesting quirks. Would have liked to see the game require a bit more thought and execution to play, maybe with more enemy behaviors or hazards, but I admit I'm not sure if the design would support it easily. Maybe challenges to complete a run with certain pre-set builds or modifiers. Ultimately, I guess I like it enough as I enjoy the music and playing with new weapons/items. After I unlock everything, I cannot imagine having much reason to play further.

with all of the roguelite survivors games that been around since vampire survivors it is very nice to see one game come up with a creative twist on it and have the playfield reflect the old one screen maze games like pacman. it's also only move when you do so you can stop and think about your next moves and yes , when you're holding any directions the game is quite fast during that time. there is not any gameplay elements that have not been in a already very popular game yet but the way that maze mice execute it's gameplay is well done. it's just work. so , get your mouse ready and fight those cats.

It's alright. Not particularly engaging after a couple of hours, but if you're looking for something to mindlessly do while listening to a podcast - this fits the bill
