Absolutly the best deduction game i'v played since Obra Dinn. This in comparison to: -Chants of Sennaar -Unheard: Voices of Crime -Case of the Golden Idol -Rise of the Golden Idol -No Case Should Remain Unsolved -A Case of Fraud -The Rootttrees are Dead Somthing very mysterious happend at the old Galley house. A whole bunch of dead bodies where found, with no apparent explanation for why they where there, let alone what the hell happend. Enter Reya Beckon. She is to opporate a machine that has been set up in the Galley house living room that will allow her examine the various rooms of the Galley house during that bizzare time. The only catch? She can only observe a room at a certain time if she can correctly deduce everyone who was in that room at the time. So yes, very Obra Dinn. But not in a way that feels like a rip off. While the main chalange of Obra Dinn is to name everyone abord, the main chalange of Galley House is to figre out where everyone was duing any given time. For example; during TIME 4, ♥♥♥♥ Mc'gee will anounce he is going to the gararge. So you set the machine to show (GARARGE. TIME 5. ♥♥♥♥ Mc'gee) and you will be able to observe what happend next..... or not because there was somone else in the gararge aswell, or perhaps Mr Mc'gee didn't go to the gararge at all. This game is hard in the best way. Some info is given for free, but mostly it makes you feel clever for figuring things out. It even adresses some problems I had with Obra Dinn. It's much harder to brute force an answer and the ending was more satisfing.
Fantastic game, I enjoyed every second of it, and even after getting all achievements I was very sad that it was over. If you like deduction games, get this. The Story (no spoilers) You arrive at an abandoned house, alone. A newspaper article tells you about a number of deaths that occured here, and that were never solved. You set up a mysterious machine that allows you to see glimpses of the past. Will you be able to find out what happened here? Gameplay The game throws you directly into the deep water. Figuring out how the machine works is already part of the game, do yourself a favor and do not look anything up! You have all the assets you need in game: You can review scenes and dialogue from which ever point you choose. There's a place for your own notes that you can open while a scene or dialogue is running, and by default setting, it stops the scene, and restarts the scene when you close it. There's a search function, a highlight function, a hint system if you get stuck, everything you could wish for. This is how it should be done. The game has a windowed mode, lets you control the resolution and UI size, and provides all the sound sliders you might want. Highly recommended.
Do you want a proper detective game that is neither too handhold-y nor punishingly difficult? Then The Incident at Galley House is for you! As a big fan of the Mystery genre, I adored this game. Every hour I spent on it just flew by and I was thoroughly entertained the whole time. Every grand reveal was properly built up and felt satisfying to solve ahead of time. I also appreciate how it improved on the developer's previous game, The Roottrees Are Dead. The Incident At Galley House does not feature a final quiz - much of the information in the game is completely optional to discover and serves nothing but the satisfaction of your own personal curiosity. I thought that this was a clever change. This way, people who don't want to spend 10 hours puzzling out things like whether a specific character was lying about their last name in that one scene can just solve the vital questions and enjoy the story, but particularly nosy wannabe detectives (like me) have lots of little secrets to discover. All in all, if you enjoy logic-based gameplay, I can only recommend this game. I can't wait to see more from this developer.
"Who/when/where" fractured timeline paranormal deductive detective game with full voice acting. Good enough for me to complete it in one long 12-hour session. I recommend turning "show connections" off in the game's settings for a more immersive and challenging experience. Impressively good QOL tools, including a search function. And, even more impressively, everything in the game makes sense, even if it may not seem to at the beginning. These kind of games often have a bunch of inconsistencies scattered about in them, and I'm delighted to report that I did not find a single one here. Some ends feel loose, but it's not a big deal. The game names Obra Dinn as one of its inspirations. That caught my attention -- I loved Obra Dinn! And even though it doesn't have Obra Dinn's fancy 3D graphics, The Incident at Galley House turned out to be an even better detective game than Obra Dinn was. No bruteforce-encouraging validation system, no stupid swirly light that just leads you to the next scene -- you have to put in actual work to get to the next scene, which also acts as a validation system in itself.
