If you like games like Her Story or other atmospheric investigation games, this is a great game. With just 5 levels very short but gives you some hours to play. Worth to get in every sale.

This is a pretty unique detective game around the concept of listening to various conversations between different characters around the same time in order to piece together the narrative. I got pretty immersed in the game so I was disappointed when I found out some stuff about the game. While the game is a decent fun time it's far from perfect and sadly has some flaws, Firstly the game is surprisingly short which isn't a deal breaker by any means as each case is an interesting string of webs as you try to piece together the narrative in order to help solve the mysteries layed out in front of you but it does end up leaving you wanting more. The game contains roughly 5 individual cases assuming you count the free DLC after launch along with the base game which makes that 6 but even that feels a bit generous since the first case that serves as the game's tutorial is fairly short imo especially in comparison to the rest of the cases in the game that could roughly take as long as 30 or 40 minutes to an hour long depending on how good your detective skills are. Secondly, not all the questions but some of them presented during each case are a bit hit or miss in their execution. They're either unintentionally leading or a bit too vague at times although this was probably a side effect of this being translated from the devs native tongue to english so I can't blame the devs as it's already hard enough to make as indepth and interesting stories for a detective game that can keep me engaged throughout as Unheard has and on top of that having to translate it to other languages can make things alot more convoluted and difficult to manage. Apart from those issues it's a great time. The narratives are pretty interesting to watch unfold and that's made even better by the acting, while it can be a bit cheesy at times and some of the executions of some lines by characters weren't always up to snuff the actors who worked on this game did a pretty damn good job so if you're interested in playing a fresh take on a detective game then I highly recommend this although if you're slightly put off by the idea of spending money on a game as short as this then you can always wait for it to go on sale. I hope this helps :D

I'm not into detective games and I didn't remember why I bought this game in first place. But I agree with others that the concept is really neat and unique. The story starts just okay, but the twist at the end makes it somewhat interesting. Some people found it too short, but I felt it's just right for me and probably others who're not really into detective games. The puzzle (solving the case) was rather difficult for me, but I felt it was fair. It could use some QoL features, such as built-in notes (the game only provides a note feature for a specific timeframe). But as a non-native English speaker, I strongly recommend playing with good headphones in a really quiet environment.

Pros: Neat concept Puzzles that increase in difficulty over time, Easy to understand how it works Cons: Very short (4 hours playtime for me) Why the everliving fudge would you spend 2 minutes replaying the conversations after completing a level, in an UNSKIPPABLE cutscene? I just heard all these conversations THATS HOW I SOLVED THE PUZZLE i dont need to listen to an unskippable 2minute recap of something I LITERALLY JUST DID) Unsatisfying ending. I get what they were going for but it just felt unsatisfying. No ability to leave notes ingame. Yes, you can leave comments for when events happen, but id love to be able to leave simple notes like "John hates Bob" or "Bob lost phone". Verdict: Get it on a sale, its a fun way to spend a few hours.

The fact that the DLC explicitly makes fun of its own poor casting in the very last part is quite fitting for a game that has such poor voice acting. Does it count as self-irony or is it a cheap way to rationalize and justify the lack of quality? I guess both. In general, 'Unheard' revolves around listening to people's conversations in person or on the phone and find out who is who and whodunnit. Self-referential plots and brain twisting scenarios abound. Recommended, with caveats, for surveillance enthusiasts.
