Was scavenging for an Axe. My stress level started rising. Said I needed to use Alcohol or Anti-depressants to make it go down. Took the Anti-depressants, then got drunk. Drove away directly after, swerved off the road from being drunk, hit a building, found an Axe inside. 10/10.

Very early days, but there's already a lot to love here. Many people have already made the comparisons to 7 Days to Die and Project Zomboid, and those are entirely accurate. The pace is exceptionally and intentionally slow - this seems like a game that's less about surviving the zombie apocalypse and more about the rebuilding society while incidentally dealing with zombies. There's a massive amount of details in the crafting and world interaction options - if you can see it, you can affect it, and it's a lot of fun to pull working parts out of one car to install in another to make a working option. Or lowering the blinds all through your safehouse so that you can turn the lights on, from time to time. It's the development direction that bears watching, because that's sort of where the Fun Pimps went wrong - by making a game that was more accessible to more people, they stripped out most of the really good, crunchy parts of the game. And by contract, PZ is a masterpiece, but is hard to pull people into, graphically, and has a depth of detail so overwhelming that the learning curve bucks a lot of folks off. Right now, Vein is riding the line between those two really well - you're willing to learn the deep functioning because the world is vibrant and interactive. I keep finding fun surprises that keep me playing, and I'm excited to get a chance to play with my friends. Don't lose sight of the fact that this is still very much in dev, and only has a team of two working on it. Even if that changes, this has a ways to go before launch, so if you're picky about 100 percent complete games, keep it on your wishlist for now. But don't forget about it.

Broke into a farm house by a lake, found a night of the living dead DvD, spent 2 days at said farm house i broke into watching it on low volume mind you.... made it to the end of the movie (spoiler- where all the zombies break into the farm house) AS Soon as that scene in happened in the movie, a horde attacked the farm house I broke into busting down doors and windows and screaming.....when i tell you that is the fastest quick save and main menu i have ever done, i mean it. 11/10 game, not sure if that scene intentionally triggers a horde but it got me good, GG devs.

I decided to write this review after I lit a cigarette in game near a propane tank that said "no smoking" - They've included so many systems and features that I was genuinely nervous that the tank was going to explode and promptly moved away from it. Crossing my fingers that this game gets the support it deserves so it can grow. Impressive highlights so far; - Shot a zombie from a car. Drove by a zombie on a motorcycle and smacked him with a baton. - Got ambushed by a boar that scared me more than any zombie did. Still put 4 rounds into it. - Found a functional police car, which fits my Police background choice and lets me wee-woo around. - Didn't know how I could fit a Generator into inventory so I loaded it into the bed of a pickup. 10/10 - Finding DVDs around the world that I can put on to play in the background while I work. - Made myself some tea after a little trial and error and was significantly rewarded with CONFIDENCE. - Made some soup and got a 'nice smell' buff. - Smoked some cannabis and savored my victory soup.

At first glance, it looks like every other zombie asset flip. But I am impressed how much it goes deeper. Things that would simply be cosmetic in other games have functionality here. I was surprised to find a functional washer/dryer for clothing that uses detergent and needs to be connected to water and power. Sinks can be filled with water, and the water gets dirty if you wash yourself in it. If your friend hasn't washed in a while, you will actually get a whiff of their stink anytime they come near you. The vehicles all have parts that can be replaced. They have air conditioning, working radios, and even a dome light. If you forget to engage the e-brake, it may roll away. I think there is a way to tow things, but I haven't figured that part out yet. You even have to change the oil on your car when it gets dirty. Electricity and water isn't just magically in a house. There are actual distribution sites around the map that provide services to regions, and you can shut off an entire region. I don't know why you'd want to do that, but you can. The grid stuff looks very promising already. There are already some interesting medical features in the game, like insulin for diabetics and a framework for different types of wounds and diseases (even tuberculosis!). The level design is also very good. Initially when I looting around houses, most homes were just copy pasta. Then I found some of the darker locations like mass burial sites. Yes, every zombie game has those "FEMA' camps, but this one does a good job making it creepy. I realistically expect this game to be in early access for a few years. I have a feeling it may actually leave early access one day.
